Describe your route: To work: 70 percent Lakefront trail. 30 percent quiet neighborhoods or major streets with bike lanes. To home: 40 percent Lakefront trail. The rest is mostly a major street with bike lanes. Fighting a little bit of traffic seems easier than fighting against the wind on the trip home for some reason.

How often do you commute by bike? If I have nowhere to be in the evening, I generally bike to work but this has been limited to summer months so far. I would say, on average, I bike to work 3 out of 5 days.

Describe yourself as a biker: I am definitely a fair-weather biker. I only started biking to work last summer because of the Bike to Work Week & then realized how much I like doing it, especially the ride in to work in the morning. I am fairly confident but I still got a lot to learn.

Morning Commute: ETD 7:33 a.m. 34 min ride

The ride in today was awesome. It is weird how having a GPS watch tracking the ride forces me to push as hard as I can. Outside of a runner completely trusting her wellbeing to me and crossing the street, the ride was uneventful. There was a small stretch right after the water fountains at Fullerton where the waves were coming on to the trail. Thankfully, most riders have already slowed down at that point. It made me wonder if it was designed that way or a happy accident. The weather was perfect for a bike ride but since I am a wimp, I did wear a thin wind and water resistant running jacket. As I locked my bike and crossed the street, I realized that I forgotten to wear a helmet. Oops!
